Privacy policy

Waitlist website · Last updated 23 October 2026

You give us your email address so we can tell you when while you're up launches. We send you one email when that happens.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see how people use this site. It sets cookies on your device. We don't use advertising tools, and we don't sell or share your email address for anyone else's marketing. We delete the list after launch.

Who we are

"while you're up" is the business name of J.M. Cronin and B.R. van Halderen, who trade as a partnership (ABN 95 277 416 612). In this policy, "we" and "us" mean that partnership.

For anything about your privacy, email us at privacy@whileyoureup.app.

What this policy covers

This policy covers this website, www.whileyoureup.app, and the waitlist form on it. The while you're up app will have its own privacy policy, which we'll publish before the app launches.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), whether or not the Act strictly applies to a business of our size.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we store:

We don't ask for your name, password, payment details or anything else.

Technical data our hosting records

Like any website, the services that deliver this page and receive your signup see some technical details of your visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your request. We don't use this to identify you, and we don't build profiles from it. It sits in our providers' standard server logs, which they keep under their own policies (see "Who handles your information" below).

Website analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics, a service from Google, to understand how people find and use this site, so we can improve it. When you visit, a Google script loads in your browser and sets cookies on your device (they're named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID). Google then receives details such as:

Our reports show totals and general patterns, not individual visitors. We don't link analytics data to your email address, and we don't send your email address to Google. We've turned off Google's advertising features and Google signals, so analytics data isn't used to show you ads. Google keeps detailed visit data for 2 months, and data linked to the cookies on your device for up to 14 months.

You can block or limit this. Most browsers let you turn off cookies or block trackers, and Google offers an opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. You can read how Google handles this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

What this website doesn't use

The footer has links to our TikTok, Instagram and Facebook accounts. They're plain links. If you follow one, that platform's own privacy policy applies from then on.

How we use your email address

We use it for one thing: to email you once, when while you're up becomes available.

By joining the waitlist, you agree to receive that one launch email. The email will include a working unsubscribe link and will say who it's from, as the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) requires.

We send it through Mailchimp. Mailchimp's emails usually include a tiny invisible image that tells us whether the email was opened, and its links record when they're clicked. Mailchimp collects your IP address and email app details as part of this. We use the results only to see whether the launch email reached people, not to build a profile of you. Most email apps let you block these images.

Who handles your information

We use a small number of service providers to run the waitlist. They handle your information only to provide their service to us.

ProviderWhat they doWhat they see
Supabase Stores the waitlist in a database. Our database is hosted in Sydney, Australia. Everything you submit, plus the technical details of your request.
Vercel Hosts and delivers this website. Technical details of your visit, such as your IP address. It doesn't receive your email address.
Google (Google Analytics) Counts visits and shows us how people use this site. Technical details of your visit, such as your IP address, the pages you view, and your device and browser, through cookies set on your device. We don't give it your email address.
Mailchimp (owned by Intuit) Sends the launch email. We give it your email address when we prepare that email, and it stores the address in the United States. Your email address, and, when you get the launch email, whether you open it and which links you click, plus details such as your IP address and email app.

The only people at while you're up who can open the waitlist are the two partners, and the database allows the public to add an email address but not to read the list.

Overseas handling

Our database is in Australia, but our providers are international companies. Mailchimp stores your email address in the United States once we give it to them to send the launch email. Supabase's and Vercel's systems and staff may also be located outside Australia, including in the United States, and Google processes analytics data in the United States and other countries. Where that happens, we rely on those providers' security and privacy commitments, and we only use providers that offer them.

How long we keep it

We delete your email address, and the other details we stored with it, 30 days after we send the launch email. If we haven't launched within 12 months of your signup, we delete it then. Whichever comes first. That includes the copy we give to Mailchimp, which we delete from there too.

If you ask us to remove you sooner, we will (see "Your choices and rights"). Copies held in our providers' routine backups are overwritten on their normal schedule.

How we protect it

If we ever learn of a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Your choices and rights

You can email privacy@whileyoureup.app at any time to:

Please write from the email address you signed up with, so we can be sure the request is yours. We'll reply within 30 days, and usually much sooner. There's no charge.

Age

The waitlist is for people aged 16 and over. It isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you're a parent or guardian and find your child's email address on our list, email us and we'll delete it.

Questions and complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first at privacy@whileyoureup.app. We'll look into it and reply in writing.

If we haven't resolved it to your satisfaction, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

If you're outside Australia

This waitlist is for people in Australia. If you join from another country, your information is still stored and handled as described here, which means in Australia and by the providers listed above.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what you agreed to when you joined, we'll ask for your consent again before we act on it.
